Webster’s defines commitment as a promise or pledge to something or someone, a personal commitment not only to self but to others. So I had to take a hard look at what I was doing and to stop it, dead in its tracks.
When we don’t honor our commitments, we are out of integrity with ourselves and those with whom we interact when we give our word. Just think about how you feel when your airline overbooks!
Can you remember the last time you looked at your level of commitment and on a scale of 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, where you are?
When we commit to ourselves and others, we are giving our word and that defines who we are in the world.
